If I have a favourite thing to do in New York City other than wandering aimlessly, it’s walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. (Are you sensing a common theme here? I like walking when I travel). On my first trip to New York back in April, I walked from the Brooklyn side to the Manhattan side with my Mom, enjoying some glorious spring warmth and sunshine. In November, Sunjita and I walked across it in the opposite direction, and although it was much colder we hit some great weather as well.
Today is a short post to share some of my favourite pictures of our walk across the Brooklyn bridge – I hope you enjoy!
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge has become ridiculously popular recently, so it’s pretty much always crowded; try to go on a weekday. Although there were quite a few other tourists there when we were, they never bothered us! Part of the fun of NYC is the crowds. My biggest tip for making the walk is to figure out where you’re going to start and end. When we stepped into Brooklyn we were hungry, lost and confused, and only the sight of someone with a Shake Shack bag saved us from wandering aimlessly for hours. Screenshot a map in advance so you can tell where you’ve ended! I’m pretty familiar with Manhattan, but not Brooklyn and that was our downfall.
